In an attempt to provide low cost electrical energy for rural and urban areas and to encourage the use of renewable technologies, the electrical industry has been de-regulated. Hybrid power systems are being implemented in order to increase reliability distributed generation and minimize the carbon footprint from electrical energy generation. As a solution to this problem, this project presents a model of the PV -Diesel HPS connected to the main grid (REG). The system will be designed to supply a reference hospital CHUB and tested for both the stand-alone and the grid-connected modes of operation. Finally conclusions were drawn from the work and recommendations were made for the future research project.
